It is my honor and pleasure to welcome you to the 2024 – 2025 school year! I hope that you have enjoyed your time with family and friends and are ready for an amazing new year. This school year brings the promise of a renewed dedication, focus, and energy to the mission of teaching and learning, and a renewed emphasis on our culture of PRIDE. 

Explorer has a long history of academic excellence and has always provided both the rigor and support necessary to ensure that all students excel.  We are an adolescent-centered learning community, where students are expected to meet high academic standards, contribute as positive citizens in our community, and become productive members of society. We are committed to providing innovative and challenging experiences that build resilience and life-long learning.

The middle school journey is one that provides exciting and unique opportunities that are best realized with strong partnerships between students, parents, and staff. Whether new to EMS or a seasoned Trailblazer, I encourage you to get involved and take advantage of all we have to offer. As students explore both academic and extracurricular opportunities, they discover who they are and are meant to be. Our dedicated staff and faculty support students in actualizing their goals and, ultimately, their potential. 

At times, it may feel as though our middle school students no longer need us as much as they once did. However, the truth is that they need us now more than ever. As we collaborate to teach students how to demonstrate positivity, respect, integrity, determination, and empathy (PRIDE), we prepare students for success. Parental involvement is often the magic ingredient to ensure that students and a school community thrive. Please consider participating in any way that allows you to support our mission, whether that is by volunteering with our PTO, attending campus events, or joining us for Open House and parent-teacher conferences. As your principal, I welcome your feedback and can’t wait to get to know each of you!
